Pregnancy Support
Due to the capacity constraints of our doctors, we are not currently taking patients for private obstetric care. We will continue specialist consultations for those looking to conceive as well as our general pregnancy provisions including NIPT, Anti-D treatments and iron infusions
Specialist consultation
Our specialists consult those with gynaecological complications, people undergoing fertility treatment or experiencing difficulties in the early stages of pregnancy.
General antenatal care
As part of supporting your pregnancy journey, we conduct the following:
- NIPT(Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing) which determines the risk that the foetus will be born with certain genetic abnormalities.
- Anti-D treatment to prevent rhesus disease during pregnancy
- Iron infusions to ward off anaemia
Maternal birth injuries
As of 1 October 2022, ACC’s personal injury cover includes maternal birth injuries (MBI) as accidents. This allows birthing parents with accepted claims to access ACC-funded treatment, support, and care to help in their recovery.
There are a range of treatments for birth trauma, and a gynaecologist is often the first port of call. Our team can treat:
- Vaginal anterior wall prolapse, posterior wall prolapse, or uterine prolapse
- Obstetric anal sphincter injury tears or tears to the perineum, labia, vagina, vulva, clitoris, cervix, rectum, anus, or urethra
- Obstetric fistula (including vesicovaginal, colovaginal, and ureterovaginal)
- Obstetric haematoma of pelvis
- Postpartum uterine inversion
- Ruptured uterus during labour
COGA can join you on the pregnancy journey from conception with an initial consultation to discuss how we can provide the best possible antenatal care. Getting to know your doctor early on in pregnancy ensures continuity of care throughout pregnancy and postpartum events.
