Dietetics for Women’s Health: Who Can Help?

Diet and nutrition play an important role in women’s health so where patients can benefit from a specialist appointment, we refer to registered dietician Stephanie Brown. She brings a wealth of knowledge about nutrition and its effects on treating women’s health issues.

"It is important to me to consider the holistic self and deliver strategies that are backed by science."

In her work as a paediatric gastroenterology dietitian at Christchurch Public Hospital as well as a gastrointestinal consultant dietitian elsewhere, Stephanie specialises in helping patients find relief for a range of health issues, from enzyme deficiencies to liver disorders and bowel problems.

Her extensive professional experience includes being part of the working party that reviewed the Ministry of Health’s resources for healthy weight gain in pregnancy, as well as working with diabetics and the elderly, and contributing to the Australasian Journal of Nutrition and Dietetics. Stephanie is often invited to speak as a nutrition expert at medical conferences and is also a current member of the Pelvic Pain Associates at Christchurch Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Stephanie supports patients with polycystic ovarian syndrome, menstrual issues, endometriosis, and those seeking to manage their weight for fertility reasons, as well as consulting on the nutritional aspect of any other related health issues.

Her individualised, scientific approach is paired with a holistic view to treatment, driven by her strong belief in the important role gut health plays in many health complaints. This is the same dual approach we take to all our work at COGA, making Stephanie a great fit for our patients.
