Special Clinical Interests:

  • General gynaecology including abnormal bleeding, menstrual or period problems, infertility.

  • Laparoscopic investigation of pelvic pain and management of endometriosis.

  • Extensive experience in hysterectomy, prolapse surgery and management of urinary incontinence.

  • Colin has a longstanding interest in the management of abnormal cervical smears having trained in diagnostic colposcopy and cervical treatment. He is a member of the ASCCP and CQUIP certified.

Post Graduate Training:

  • Trained at Christchurch Women's Hospital and travelled to Glasgow Scotland in 1982 where he undertook four years post graduate study at the Queen Mother's Hospital and the Western Infirmary. During the four years in Glasgow participated in training as a colposcopist (Birmingham) and Fertility Medicine (Glasgow IVF unit). Colin also undertook research for the Medical Research Council.

  • Came back to New Zealand in 1986 and returned to at Christchurch Women's Hospital as a Senior Registrar. He was appointed a Senior Consultant in 1988. Established private O & G practice in 1988 where he continues to work actively.

  • Has been a Senior Clinical Lecturer for the University of Otago in the speciality of Obstetrics and Gynaecology since returning to NZ in 1986.
