Urinary Incontinence

  • Stress

  • Urge

It is not uncommon for women after childbirth to experience urinary leakage. For many women, pelvic floor exercise will help to restore continence. Some women, despite exercise, will still experience leakage of urine and this situation may deteriorate with age, and after the onset of menopause.

Urinary leakage when exercising, coughing or straining is referred to as "stress incontinence". This type of leakage may respond well to pelvic floor exercise, but if not successful, can be well managed with surgery.
