Ange Hendry
A fan of rom coms, all things Christmas, and a good old laugh, Ange contributes her signature positivity and empathy to the COGA team. She provides a vital communication link between doctors and their patients, bringing 30 years of experience in various areas of the health sector.
This born-and-bred Cantabrian has previously worked for a District Nursing Provider and General Practices, and held a significant role as Practice Manager of a busy General Practice prior to joining COGA. As our patients know, Ange is well-versed in everything to do with healthcare, and competently manages the needs of many people in a fast-paced environment.
It is the interactions with patients that Ange enjoys most about the job, and she appreciates being able to identify with and alleviate the anxieties of those undergoing treatment. She likes to say that if she finishes the day knowing she has made someone else’s better, then her job is done.
During her career, Ange has noted a few areas in women’s health where progress could be made. Firstly, she’d love to see more attention paid to endometriosis which can be a silent disease and often overlooked. Another is infertility; it is often seen as a taboo subject but there is so much to be gained from open dialogue around it.
Ange is committed to ongoing learning and has done several education courses around the principles of Te Tiriti and improving Māori health outcomes. Next she plans to learn basic te reo Māori and tick a few more exotic travel adventures off her list.
