Senior Clinical Lecturer for the University of Otago in the speciality of Obstetrics and Gynaecology

Special Clinical Interests:

  • Advanced Laparoscopic procedures including Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy.

  • Prolapse and incontinence procedures including vaginal hysterectomy, pelvic floor repair and bladder neck sling surgery (TVT).

  • Management of abnormal bleeding, menstrual or period problems, postmenopausal bleeding. Management of fibroids including myomectomy and/or hysterectomy.

  • Investigation of pelvic pain/infertility including laparoscopic excision of endometriosis

  • Colposcopy and cervical treatment of abnormal smears. Geeta is a Member of ASCCP and is CQUIP certified.

  • Operative Hysteroscopy for the management of endometrial polyps or endometrial ablation. The procedure performed in either the outpatient environment or under general anaesthesia.

Post Graduate Training:

  • Graduated from Osmania University, India in 1991. Trained and worked in India as an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist before moving to New Zealand in 1995. She worked in Tauranga and National Women’s Hospital, Auckland. Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists completed in 2008. During this time Geeta worked at Christchurch Women’s Hospital, Dunedin and Invercargill. Geeta has also worked at the Christchurch Fertility Centre (Fertility Associates).

  • Geeta is currently a Senior Consultant at Christchurch Women’s Hospital having held this post since 2009. She is a Senior Clinical Lecturer for the University of Otago Christchurch.
